Toning must be an essential part of our skincare routine. A toner not only minimises the visual appearance of pores but also balances the ph level of our skin, cleanse leftover makeup and remove excess oil from face.
All the drugstore toners available in the market contains alcohol which leaves our skin dry and dehydrated. The drugstore toners also cost a huge amount. Then why it is the need to buy them when you can make safe and effective toners right from your kitchen ingredients.
A toner does not need to be applied only with a cotton ball, it can also be spritzed on your face and neck. Today I have collected 5 easy DIY toner recipes which you can include in your skincare routine without any doubt.
Green tea + Vit. E (for oily/acne prone/normal/combination skin)
Boil 1 bag of green tea in 1 cup of hot water. Allow the mixture to cool down and add 2 capsules of Vitamin E per 100 ml of solution. Refrigerate the mixture after every usage.
Green tea is an amazing ingredient when it comes to combat the issue of excess oil secretion. Being high in antioxidants, green tea also has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties which are good for oily skin type. Green tea is good for improving skin complexion and fighting acne while Vitamin E is best for delaying age signs and adding balanced hydration to oily and acne prone skin.
Rose water + Geranium essential oil (for dry/sensitive skin)
Mix 5-10 drops of geranium essential oil with 100 ml of rose water. Your rose water toner is ready to use. If you don’t have geranium essential oil, rose water can solely fulfill the purpose of toning dry/sensitive skin. Instead of geranium essential oil, you can also add 1 small leveled teaspoon of any facial oil to rose water.
If you are not a fan of drugstore rose water, then you can make the same at home without any fuss. For this, you need to boil petals of 10 roses with 2-3 cups of water. After 10 minutes, the color of rose petals will fade away. Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to cool. You need to keep this mixture in the refrigerator for regular usage.
Rose water has been used for ages to have a clear, flawless skin while geranium essential oil adds hydration to dry/ sensitive skin.
Hibiscus + Vit. C (for all skin types)
Boil 10-15 hibiscus flower petals in 2 cups of water for 7-8 minutes. The color of petals will fade away after some time. Allow the mixture to cool after removing it from heat. Add 1 teaspoon of Vitamin C powder to the 100 ml of mixture. You can also substitute Vitamin C powder with 2 Vitamin C tablets which are easily available in the market. Refrigerate the recipe after every use.
Vitamin C is used for clearing blemishes, acne scars and uneven skin tone. Hibiscus flower is called a natural botox. It is helpful in boosting collagen, evens out skin tone, delay aging effects and balances hydration in our skin.
Rose water + Camphor (for oily/combination/normal skin)
Mix 1-2 pinch of camphor with 100 ml of rose water. Your toner is ready to use.
Camphor is a miracle substance to control excess oil secretion when combined with rose water. It gives a cooling effect when applied on the skin. Camphor is not advised to apply on broken skin. Use this toner with a cotton ball avoiding your eyes.
Cucumber juice + Vit. E (for all skin types)
Squeeze out juice from cucumber using a juicer. A grater can also be used to extract juice from a cucumber. Mix 100 ml of cucumber juice with 2 capsules of Vitamin E. An easy-to-make toner is ready to use.
Cucumber makes our skin healthy and glowing by rejuvenating skin cells, evens out skin tone, reduces blemishes and acne scars. Cucumber and Vitamin E mixed together makes a great toner for all skin types.
