But, making it at home gives a sense of relief about the purity of ingredients you are using in your hair oil. In this article, we will learn about easy to make home-made hair oil.

Ingredients:

  • 2 handful of curry leaves.
  • 2 handful of hibiscus leaves.
  • 5 fresh amla or 100 grams of amla powder.
  • 2 spoonful of fenugreek seeds.
  • 1.5 liter of water.
  • 200 ml of carrier oil (coconut/olive/almond oil). Whatever suits you best.

Preparation Time:

30 minutes

Processing Time:

1.5 hrs

Method:

  1. Firstly, collect all the hibiscus and curry leaves in a pot. Then add water to it.
  2. If you are using fresh amla, grate them and then add it to the pot.
  3. Allow this mixture to boil until it reduces to half of its quantity. Set aside this concoction to cool down.
  4. Once the mixture has properly cooled down. Strain it using cheesecloth and collect in a bowl.
  5. Now, put carrier oil in the pan. And then, add hibiscus and curry leaves concoction to it.
  6. If you are using amla powder to make this hair oil. Put amla powder and fenugreek seeds to the pan.
  7. Let this mixture to boil until all the water evaporates. Now, you will be left only with the oil infused with the herbs.
  8. Strain the oil by removing all the herbs from it.
  9. Massage your scalp with this oil and leave this oil in your hair to work overnight. Then, wash them next morning with a mild shampoo.

Winter season has come which takes quite a huge toll on our hair. It is the season of very dry, frizzy and unmanageable hair which are more prone to breakage, damage and hair fall.

Follow these simple and easy ways to take care of your hair this winters.

Eat well & stay hydrated

Our hairs are made up of protein components. Any kind of hair treatment, mask, and oil will never benefit our hair until and unless our hairs are not healthy from within. So, it becomes crucial to feed your hair with proteins, vitamins and minerals via your daily diet.

Drinking 8 glasses of water regularly, hydrate our hair shaft from inside and make them shiny outside.

Amla(Indian Gooseberry) for our hair

Amla has certain medicinal properties and is also sufficient in Vitamin C & iron, which makes it a miracle remedy for our hair. Amla stimulates hair growth and also strengthens hair follicles.

You can use amla in your hair care routine either by having it in any form for e.g. amla pickle, amla murabba, amla juice, amla powder; or by using amla in your hair masks. However, consuming amla is much more beneficial than applying topically on our hair.

Hot oil treatment

Hot oil treatment conditions deeply our hair and strengthens them at the same time. For this treatment, you can use any oil which works best for your hair. Heat the oil to a temperature suitable for applying onto hair. Do not overheat the oil.

Leave the oil on hair overnight for deep nourishment and then wash your hair in the morning. The treatment will make your hair extremely soft and shiny. Do the hot oil treatment twice a week to get maximum benefits from it.

Moisturising shampoo & conditioner

A moisturising shampoo & conditioner is best for this season. They cleanse our hair very gently and don’t strip the required moisture of them at the same time. Always look for the labels of shampoos and conditioners while buying them.

Do not shampoo your hair more than 2-3 times a week in winters.

Not keeping your hair wet

In winters, it takes a lot of time to air dry our hair. If our hair is wet for long periods, water penetrates the hair shaft very easily and breaks the keratin bonds in our hair, leaving them more prone to fall.

But it does not mean that you are left only with a hair dryer to dry your hair. Instead after washing, towel-dry your hair and go in direct sunlight. It will dry your hair in a maximum time of 10 minutes.

If you keep your towel-dried hair in direct sunlight for 30 minutes, it will leave your hair very soft, shiny and straight too (This is my favourite trick to have shiny and silky hair).

Dandruff-treatment

Dandruff is also a major culprit in winters due to which our hair keeps falling to an extent. For the dandruff remedies, use lemon in your hair masks to fight against it.

You can also rinse your hair with lemon water after washing them. Squeeze a full lemon into a cup of water for lemon water rinsing of hair.

Quick tip: As you know that our hairs are very weak in winters which make this season not suitable for any kind of experimentation(colouring, perming or rebonding) on our hair.
