Mistakes To Avoid While Washing Face

Face washing is the most simple step in skincare routine to remove dirt and gunk off your face. If not done correctly, it can lead to many skin problems like acne, premature ageing, clogged pores and much more.

Watch out for any mistake listed below while washing face. Make sure you are not doing any of these to make your skin look amazing.

Using a wrong cleanser

There are a variety of cleansers available in the market for every skin type. If you use a foam based cleanser on your dry skin then it will rip all the natural sebum off your face & make your skin look more dull and lifeless.

Using a gel based cleanser on an oily face will not properly clean facial pores and eventually pores get clogged after some time.

Read this post to know about choosing skincare products for your skin type.

Not washing your hands

Hands are the dirtiest part of your body. No matter how many times you are washing your hands, you are touching and picking things every minute.

That’s why you need to either rinse or wash your hands with a hand wash before washing your face.

Not using particular amount of face wash/cleanser

Use a proper quantity of face wash while washing face. Too much will wash off the required amount of sebum off your face and too little will not properly clean your face.

Not removing makeup before washing face

Remove makeup before hitting the wash basin to clean your face. It will properly clean your face and tough pigments of makeup like kajal, eye liner and mascara which don’t come off the face in the first attempt.

Rinsing off face instantly after using cleanser

Cleansers need some time to break dirt, gunk and makeup pigments off your face in order to clean it properly. Leave facial cleanser on your face for a minimum time of 30 seconds and a maximum time of 1 minute.

Not removing cleanser completely

If you don’t remove your cleanser off your face completely, it will clog your pores eventually. Splash water on your face at least 6-7 times while rinsing.

Using a dirty towel

Dirt and sebum get accumulated on a towel after every usage. Use separate towels for your face and body. Wash your body towel every 3-4 days and your face towel every 4-5 days. Using a dirty towel on your face after cleansing places back dirt and bacteria on your face.

Using warm water on face

Warm water opens facial pores, produces more sebum and attracts more dirt on the face. Either use lukewarm water to wash face or use cold water at the end to seal enlarged pores.

Over-exfoliation

Exfoliation needs to be done on two bases. First is cell regeneration process of body and second is the amount of sebum produced by your skin.

Skin generates new cells after every 28 days. If you do the workout on a daily basis then this cell regeneration process is fast in your body.

Dead skin cells and sebum makes our face look dull. Exfoliation removes dead cells, sebum off our face to reveal the fresh layer of skin cells. Exfoliation needs to be done either once a week for most of the people or twice a week for selective ones. More than this number is considered over-exfoliation.

Not applying moisturiser afterwards

Moisturiser restores back hydration into our face. Not applying moisturiser on face after cleansing stretches our skin and results into premature ageing if done regularly.

Rubbing face with towel

Rubbing also stretches skin cells resulting into premature ageing. Always pat dry your face with the towel after cleansing.

Quick tip: Wash your face no more than two times (morning & evening) a day with cleanser. Rinse your face with clean water if you need to wash off your face in daytime.

VLCC Skin Defence Lavang Moisturiser Product Review

Hello Gracies!

I am back with another review. Today, I am going to do a review on VLCC Skin Defence Lavang Moisturiser. This blog post will give you a brief idea about the product.

Honestly speaking, I switched to this product because Neutrogena oil-free moisturiser was out of stock. So, I thought I should give this lotion a try. I am using this moisturiser from last 15 days due to my oily skin and excess humidity in monsoon.

You can also read a review on Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser With SPF 15.

Now, let’s get straight to the review.

Price of the product: Rs. 140 for 100 ml

What the product claims:

The moisturiser enriched with Clove(Lavang) and extracts of Neem & Euphorbia helps in controlling acne and excess sebum secretion, leaving the skin non-greasy, smooth and radiant.

Method of use: After cleansing the face & neck, apply with gentle upward strokes. Use alone or under make-up.

Ingredients: Ananas sativus (Pineapple extract) 4%, Gandhak (Sulphur powder) 3%, Melia Azadirachta (Margosa-neem) extract 2%, Euphorbia thymifolia (Chhoti dudhi) extract 1.5%, Syzigium aromaticum (Clove-Lavang oil) 1%, Lotion Base QS.

My experience with this product:

DSCN3639-newThe packaging of moisturiser is very attractive. Colour combination of white and orange used for the packaging seems very appealing.

The product comes with a tight flip-top which makes it easy to carry in your handbag. The moisturiser is white in colour.

The product is specially made for normal to oily skin type and it met my requirements as stated. It has a non-creamy and running consistency which is great for oily skin type.

After applying this moisturiser on the face, it gets absorbed by skin within 15-20 seconds which is surely a plus point for this product.

It gives a non-greasy look on the face which I always demand from my moisturiser. One more thing which I liked about this product is that my pores did not feel blocked after using it.

DSCN3651-newOne particular thing I disliked about this product is its smell. This moisturiser literally smells like cloves which no-one would like in their moisturiser.

Whenever I apply this moisturiser, it always gives a cooling sensation on the face. Though I liked this cooling sensation on the entire face but it stings a little around my eyes. That is why I cannot use this product around eyes.

I won’t recommend this moisturiser to people with sensitive or dry skin because this cooling sensation may sting on their face.

People with acne-prone skin should use this moisturiser with VLCC Punarnava astringent to control acne.

Pros:

  1. Gives non-greasy look.
  2. Absorbs into skin immediately.
  3. Travel-friendly.
  4. Affordable.
  5. Good moisturiser for oily skin type.
  6. Decent quantity of moisturiser related to the price.
  7. Herbal composition.
  8. Controls excess sebum secretion.

Cons:

  1. Smells like cloves.
  2. Gives cooling sensation on the face. For normal to oily skin types, it will be ok. But it may sting on a sensitive or dry skin.

Will I repurchase it?

Overall, the product is definitely a good deal. You should not overlook its cons before buying it.

Different Ways To Include Vaseline In Your Beauty Regime

Vaseline has been on the market more than a century now but most of the people are using this product just to moisturise their lips.

Being a cheap and the most affordable product, anyone can include vaseline into their beauty regime in many different ways.

As a highlighter

Vaseline produces a natural, dewy sheen on the face when used as a highlighter. Just dab a little bit on your cheekbones, cupid’s bow, bridge of the nose and you are good to go.

You can also mix your powder highlighter with vaseline to make it more intense and natural.

Cracked heel smoother

Cracked heels are very much difficult to deal with. They not only look bad but also pain a lot if not healed on time. Thank god, vaseline can do this job very effectively.

Mix 1 part vaseline with 1 part of glycerin. Apply this mixture on your heels at night and wear a nice pair of socks to give your feet a cozy comfort overnight. You will notice a visible difference in your heels next morning.

Follow this routine for at least 2-3 weeks until you discover gorgeous feet again. Even if you don’t have cracked heels, this remedy will help you to have soft heels within few days.

Cuticle softener

Don’t want to invest in those costly cuticle creams available at the drugstore? Don’t worry, we have an affordable solution for you. You can use vaseline to soften dry cuticles anytime.

Eyebrow tamer

Want to tame unruly eyebrows? We have a quick solution for you. Dab a little bit of  vaseline on your eyebrows and tame them using an old mascara wand. Your eyebrows will stay in place for a long time.

Dry/Flaky skin soother

If you face the problem of having dry/flaky skin around the nose and also encounter dry patches in certain areas of the face. Don’t worry, vaseline is the real savior of this problem.

You just need to apply a little bit on the problem areas and your problem is good to go.

Lip scrubber

Lip scrubbers are very effective in removing dead skin cells off the lips and unleashing soft pinky lips afterward.

To make this lip scrubber, you only need to mix some salt with vaseline. Rub this scrubber on your lips for about 4-5 minutes.

Split end softener

Split ends make your hair look dry, frizzy and absolutely not gorgeous. But you don’t have to worry about this issue if you have vaseline.

Apply a little bit of vaseline on your split ends and it will make your hair shiny in no extra time.

Flyaway tamer

There are a lot of options available in the market to tame flyaways or baby hairs but they all are toxic and contain chemicals.

If you want a non-toxic and chemical-free formulae for your hair. Vaseline is the solution to this complication. Dab a little bit of vaseline on your baby hairs. It will not make your hair look greasy.

Hair color protectant

Do you color your hair often and hate it when the color shows up on the skin along the hairline? Don’t worry. For this quickie, apply vaseline on the skin along with the hairline. Wipe everything off when you wash off your hair.

Powder to creamy blush converter

Whether you noticed it or not but a powdered blush makes dry or normal skin type look drier. Do not think for a second that you will now have to throw your powdered makeup.

For this quick fix, mix up your powdered blush with vaseline. If you find it difficult to mix both of these, just microwave both of these for 30 seconds using a container.

Pour the mixture in an old cream container. Freeze it for few minutes. Your creamy blush is good to use. I just love creamy blushes because they leave a natural sheen on the cheeks.

Depuff Eyes Within 5 Minutes or Less

Eyes get swollen and puffy easily because of many reasons like crying a lot, not having enough sleep, fatigue, stress, your sleeping position etc.

Eyes are the most attractive part of our face and these culprits disfigure the charm of our face by disturbing them. If you too face this problem more often then this blog post will help you to depuff eyes with fewer efforts and within a minimum amount of time.

Grated Potatoe

Potatoes are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and other nutrients which help in reducing puffiness around our eyes. Potatoes also add other benefits to our eyes like removing dark circles, brightening our eyes etc.

For this remedy, grate one potato and place it for 20-30 minutes in the freezer. Within 5 minutes, you will notice a reduction in puffiness around your eyes.

Cucumber Juice

Cucumbers also prove their effectiveness when used in skincare regime. Being rich in antioxidants and vitamins, they soothe eyes very easily. Cucumbers have amazing cooling property to calm harsh sunburns and relax stressed nerves around eyes.

Squeeze out fresh juice from a cucumber using a food processor. Freeze it for 15-20 minutes and place cotton pads on your eyes dipped in the juice. Your eyes will get enlarged and brighten up within minutes.

Frozen Peas

Tie few frozen peas in a piece of cloth and make two bags for both eyes. Place these bags on your eyes by resting your head on a pillow. Hold these bags if you feel they are slipping off your eyes. Frozen peas will perfectly set to the contours of your eyes and soothe them instantly.

Ice

Ice is also helpful in relaxing tightened muscles around our eyes. Place 2-3 ice cubes in a piece of cloth and gently pat it around your eye area.

Cold Spoons

For this remedy, refrigerate two metal spoons in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes. Place curvy side of the spoon on your eyes to relax them in no time. Cold spoons also help in reducing dark circles when used frequently.

Green Tea

Being an another herbal remedy and rich in antioxidants, green tea is an amazing ingredient for our eyes. Green tea can not only be used to reduce puffiness but also to cure dark circles around our eyes.

Refrigerate either green tea(prepared) or green tea bags in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes. Place green tea bags directly on your eyes. If you want to use prepared green tea on your eyes then soak two cotton pads in this mixture and place them on your eyes for few minutes.

Eye Gel Pads/Masks

Eye gel pads/masks are also used to quickly soothe puffiness around our eyes. These eye gel masks are very affordable to buy. You can buy these eye gel pads/masks via any e-commerce website.

You need to refrigerate this mask for about 10-15 minutes before placing them on your eyes.

Quick tips to prevent puffy eyes:

  • Reduce salt intake in your diet. Salt being rich in sodium increases water retention around the eye area and results in puffy eyes.
  • Drink lots of water to prevent puffy eyes.
  • Alcohol consumption on a frequent basis also increases puffiness.
  • Being slept on a single side for longer durations also results in puffy eyes.

DIY Under-eye Cream For Dark Circles and Fine Lines

If you want to age gracefully, having a good skincare regime is a must. A skincare regime means following a strict schedule to take care of each part of your body.

We usually include our face, neck, hands and the rest of our body in our skincare regime and overlook the under-eye area. The area around our eye experiences sagginess, dark circles and fine lines because of this neglection.

There are a lot of options available at the drugstore in the form of creams and serums to combat this issue. But, all of them contain fillers and preservatives which I am not comfortable to use around the most gentle area.

I am glad to share my 3-ingredient recipe to help you with the issue. I had dark circles around my eyes but they were not much visible from a distance. As soon as I noticed my eyes being racoon-like, I started using this cream and saw a visible difference within a month.

I am using this cream since then, to keep my eyes away from showing any signs of premature ageing.

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon each of extra virgin coconut oil, olive oil and sweet almond oil.

Instructions to make:

  • Heat up extra virgin coconut oil in the microwave at medium temperature (if the oil is hard at room temperature). Extra virgin coconut oil is the purest form of coconut oil.
  • Make sure not to overheat or boil it. Allow it to cool for some time.
  • Mix it up with olive oil and sweet almond oil.
  • Pour the mixture into an old container to preserve this cream for a longer time.
  • Refrigerate the mixture to have cream like consistency.
  • This batch of cream will last you more than a month even after regular usage.

Directions to use:

Wash your face with a mild cleanser. Gently pat dry. Lightly dab your ring finger in the container to get the required amount (this much amount is adequate for both of your eyes). Now firmly apply this cream around your under-eye area by gently massaging using your ring finger.

Best time to use this cream:

Our body regenerate cells at night. That is why night-time is the best time to use any skincare product. Also, our face doesn’t have to fight with any kind of dust, pollution particles and sun’s harmful rays at night.

Benefits:

  • Coconut oil, olive oil and sweet almond oil, all these ingredients are rich in Vitamin E to cure premature ageing around eyes.
  • All these ingredients are rich in antioxidants which help in fading under-eye dark circles.
  • The cream moisturises under-eye area to vanish the visible appearance of fine lines.
  • It is also packed with other essential vitamins to nourish under-eye area at the same time.
  • It helps in boosting collagen around your eyes.

Quick tips:

  1. Always use your ring finger to apply any makeup or skin care product around your eyes. Ring finger imposes very less pressure on our under-eye area in comparison with rest of the fingers.
  2. Usage of a facewash or any cleanser around your eyes is a big no-no. Facewash and cleansers deplete the layer of natural oil around our eyes making it dry and more prone to wrinkles and fine lines.
  3. Invest your money in a good quality eye makeup remover for your eye makeup. Dab a little amount of eye makeup remover on a cotton pad. Put this cotton pad on your eyelid for a minute. Make sure that your eyelid is completely covered with this cotton pad. Gently swipe the pad off your eye.
  4. You can also use this eye cream for removing your eye makeup. Gently apply this cream on your eye and massage with your ring finger. Massaging breaks out your mascara and eyeliner off the eye. Put a cotton pad on your eyelid soaked in lukewarm water and gently wipe the pad off your eye.

Things That Are Clogging Your Pores Easily

Pores are the tiny openings on the surface of our face. These are connected to sebaceous glands to produce sebum on the face.

Our skin also takes fresh natural air and releases harmful toxins via these pores. There are a lot of things that create gunk on your face leaving your pores clogged. Clogged pores make your skin easily to breakout.

This is the reason we are here today to discuss out several things which are clogging your pores.

Your moisturiser

If the moisturiser you are using does not seep into your skin within few minutes and leaves your face greasy afterwards, then it is not suitable for your skin. Dirt and pollution particles can easily stick on a greasy face which leaves your pores clogged.

Use a light moisturiser in summers and a thick moisturiser (but not greasy thick) in winters. Use a required amount of your moisturiser every time. A little extra amount will also leave grease on your face.

Not cleansing your face after reaching home

Whenever we go outdoors; dirt, gunk and pollution particles sit on our face leaving it dull and unhealthy. More is the time they are allowed to sit on our face, more are the chances they will clog our pores. So, cleanse your face as soon as possible after reaching home.

You can also keep face wipes in your handbag to remove gunk from your face every few hours.

Your cell phone

You keep your cell phone upside down on a table, in your handbag, on the floor (sometimes) and  on the window pane. All of these things contain dirt, bacteria and germs to a large extent. Just imagine, how much dirt and bacteria get on your face via your cell phone.

Your pillowcases

Your pillowcase is also a red zone where you get a lot of germs and dirt. Every night your face secrete natural oil which is absorbed by the pillowcase. The oil on your pillowcase attracts dirt and germs which will be transferred onto your face next time you sleep. This is the reason, we should wash our pillowcases on a frequent basis.

Waterproof makeup

Everyone loves waterproof makeup because of the fact it lasts all day long. Waterproof makeup basically blocks your pores to create a barrier between your face and the layer of makeup. This way your pores doesn’t sweat and leaves you all day long pretty face.

But waterproof makeup clog your pores making your skin to breakout if it is left on the skin for longer durations. Remove your waterproof makeup after 4-5 hours to have a squeaky clean face.

 No exfoliation

Our skin produces new skin cells after every 28 days and creates a layer of dead skin on these new cells. If these dead cells are not removed from the face, it will clog your pores and lead your skin to acne.

Exfoliation can remove these dead cells off your face very effectively. Pamper your face with 5 minutes of exfoliation every week and save yourself from such hassles.

VLCC Matte Look Sunscreen Lotion With SPF 30 & PA+++ Review

Hello Gracies!

Sunscreens must be a vital part of our day-to-day life. Sunscreen lotions are one of my favourites among all the skincare products. I like trying new sunscreens of various brands every 3-4 months.

Everyone knows the need of a sunscreen lotion in our skincare regime. This time, I am going to review a product of well-known brand “VLCC” . VLCC is famous for their skincare products all around the globe. The brand has a wide variety of products to choose from. Almost all the products of this brand prove to be effective according to their claims.

So, without wasting any minute let’s hop on to the review.

Price of the product: Rs. 315 for 100 gms.

What the product claims:

VLCC Matte Look Sunscreen Lotion is a broad-spectrum sunscreen, with SPF 30 and PA+++, which provides long duration sun protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Enriched with pineapple extract, it hydrates the skin leaving it soft and supple. Its non-sticky formula gets absorbed quickly and provides a matte finish.

Directions: Apply liberally and evenly on the face and neck, 15-20 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply frequently for long duration sun exposure.

Ingredients: Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, White Sandalwood Extract, Turmeric Extract, Germinated Wheat Oil, Pineapple Extract, Zinc Oxide, Aloe Vera Extract, Carrot Seed Oil, Cucumber Extract, Lotion Base Q.S.

My experience with this product:

DSCN3627I bought VLCC Matte Look Sunscreen Lotion 3 months back because of my oily skin type in summers. I bought it from an online shopping site because of a fair discount on the product :).

The sunscreen lotion is available in higher SPF too. But I don’t like buying a sunscreen lotion more than SPF 30. Because more the SPF protection a sunscreen lotion will have, more it will leave a white cast on your face and also you need to reapply your sunscreen after every 2-3 hours regardless of the higher SPF in your sunscreen lotion.

The product comes in a tube with a flip top and the packaging of the tube is very attractive. You will love the packaging of this product in the first go. The flip top is very tight which confirms it a travel-friendly product.

One thing that amazed me of this product is its ingredient list. Its has a lot of natural extracts which ensures more benefits to your skin.

DSCN3629The texture of the lotion is very creamy and smooth. It does give matte finish on your face according to its claim. Because of its mattifying nature, it leaves a little bit of white cast on your face which vanishes after some time.

The sunscreen lotion is a tinted one which also hides a little bit of imperfections of your face. What can you expect more of a sunscreen? (Yayyy!)

The product definitely claims to be for all skin types. But according to my recommendation, people with dry and normal skin types should not opt this product. Because it makes your face little bit of dry and non-oily after application which is great for oily skin.

I am using the product since this summer and currently it is monsoon right here in India. This sunscreen lotion did a great job in both these seasons. Only a pea-sized amount is what it takes for full face and neck.

I am continuously using this product 2 times a day from last 3 months and still a lot of sunscreen lotion is left in the tube. The product is totally affordable because it will definitely last 4-5 months even after continuous usage.

Another thing which I noticed about this product is that my pores don’t feel clogged after using this sunscreen lotion. My face did sweat when I am in outdoors with this sunscreen lotion on my face. But the sweating amount is very less as compared to any other sunscreen lotion.

Pros:

  1. Gives a matte look.
  2. Non-sticky.
  3. Herbal formulation
  4. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with both UVA & UVB protection.
  5. Pores don’t feel clogged after applying.
  6. Leaves soft and supple skin.
  7. Totally affordable.
  8. Easily available.
  9. Hides imperfections.
  10. Travel-friendly.
  11. Skin does not get tan after using this sunscreen lotion.
  12. Mild pineapple fragrance.
  13. Does not make your skin to breakout.
  14. Goes a long way.
  15. Very small quantity is required for single usage.

Cons:

  1. Not appropriate for people with dry skin type.
  2. The sunscreen lotion does not blend easily into the skin if you use more than a required amount.
  3. Not suitable to use in winters.

Will I repurchase it?

Absolutely. Overall the product fulfilled all my expectations. I am definitely gonna give it another shot.

Mistakes to avoid while applying face mask

Face masks are everyone’s favorite for different purposes. They add an instant glow to our skin, unclog pores, moisturizes and brightens our face.

Whether you buy a face mask from the drugstore or make a one at home right from your kitchen ingredients. Every face mask proves its efficacy by adding benefits to your skin.

Believe it or not, but most of the people do following mistakes while applying face masks. These mistakes minimize the advantageous effects of a face mask. So, you need to make sure that you are not making these mistakes.

Using a specific mask all the time

Our skin type varies with the change in season and age. So as our skin necessities also vary. If you are using the same mask since your teenage then you must need to know this fact. Use face masks according to a season and your skin texture. Every face mask serves a different purpose to our skin. For example, clay masks are used to shrink enlarged pores and it is good to use in the humid environment like monsoons.

If you don’t know anything about how to make face masks at home then read the following posts:

The same rule applies for combination skin type people. Combination skin comprises of oily T-zone and dry cheeks. People with such skin need to use different masks for different areas of the face. For e.g. clay masks should be used for oily T-zone and hydrating masks need to be used for dry cheeks.

Not removing face mask properly

Face mask which is not removed properly leaves our skin dry, dull and dehydrated. It also clog our pores which further lead to breakouts.

Too frequent uses

2-3 applications of face masks are advised on a weekly basis. Daily usage extracts natural oil from our skin cells leaving it unhealthy.

Applying it on delicate areas of the face

Under-eye area and lips are the most delicate areas of our face. Face masks are not made to apply on these gentle parts. Applying face mask on these areas creates unwanted tension resulting into fine lines and premature ageing.

Applying face mask with unclean hands or an unclean brush

Either you are applying face mask with hands or brush, both needs to be clean before using this treatment on your face. Unclean hands or an unclean brush leaves bacteria on your face along with the face mask. Whether you are using fingers or a brush to apply beauty mask on your face, sanitize them.

Applying beauty mask on unclean face

If hands need to be clean before application of face mask, same goes with the face. Always wash your face with a cleanser before any beauty treatment (make sure to remember this tip every time). Otherwise, you won’t get full benefits from your face mask.

Talking or giving expressions with face

Giving facial expressions like frowning, smiling or talking while face mask on is a big no-no. It creates unwanted tension and elongate skin tissues of the face which also leads to premature ageing.

After care

Always use a moisturiser according to your skin type after properly washing your face. A moisturiser restores back depleted moisture and ph balance of our skin.

Keeping mask on face for longer durations

Never keep a mask on your face longer than 15 minutes. Clay mask dries within 10 minutes after application. So it is needed to wash your face as soon as the mask dries or after 15 minutes of application (in the case of hydrating masks). Our skin cannot breathe normally with a mask applied on the face.

Quick tip: Clay masks should be cleaned off our face as soon as the mask semi-dries because a completely dried clay mask is difficult to wash off. We have to rub our skin a bit vigorously to clean a dried clay mask which is not good for our skin elasticity.

Easy DIY Natural Toners

Toning must be an essential part of our skincare routine. A toner not only minimises the visual appearance of pores but also balances the ph level of our skin, cleanse leftover makeup and remove excess oil from face.

All the drugstore toners available in the market contains alcohol which leaves our skin dry and dehydrated. The drugstore toners also cost a huge amount. Then why it is the need to buy them when you can make safe and effective toners right from your kitchen ingredients.

A toner does not need to be applied only with a cotton ball, it can also be spritzed on your face and neck. Today I have collected 5 easy DIY toner recipes which you can include in your skincare routine without any doubt.

Green tea + Vit. E (for oily/acne prone/normal/combination skin)

Boil 1 bag of green tea in 1 cup of hot water. Allow the mixture to cool down and add 2 capsules of Vitamin E per 100 ml of solution. Refrigerate the mixture after every usage.

Green tea is an amazing ingredient when it comes to combat the issue of excess oil secretion. Being high in antioxidants, green tea also has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties which are good for oily skin type. Green tea is good for improving skin complexion and fighting acne while Vitamin E  is best for delaying age signs and adding balanced hydration to oily and acne prone skin.

Rose water + Geranium essential oil (for dry/sensitive skin)

Mix 5-10 drops of geranium essential oil with 100 ml of rose water. Your rose water toner is ready to use. If you don’t have geranium essential oil, rose water can solely fulfill the purpose of toning dry/sensitive skin. Instead of geranium essential oil, you can also add 1 small leveled teaspoon of any facial oil to rose water.

If you are not a fan of drugstore rose water, then you can make the same at home without any fuss. For this, you need to boil petals of 10 roses with 2-3 cups of water. After 10 minutes, the color of rose petals will fade away. Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to cool. You need to keep this mixture in the refrigerator for regular usage.

Rose water has been used for ages to have a clear, flawless skin while geranium essential oil adds hydration to dry/ sensitive skin.

Hibiscus + Vit. C (for all skin types)

Boil 10-15 hibiscus flower petals in 2 cups of water for 7-8 minutes. The color of petals will fade away after some time. Allow the mixture to cool after removing it from heat. Add 1 teaspoon of Vitamin C powder to the 100 ml of mixture. You can also substitute Vitamin C powder with 2 Vitamin C tablets which are easily available in the market. Refrigerate the recipe after every use.

Vitamin C is used for clearing blemishes, acne scars and uneven skin tone. Hibiscus flower is called a natural botox. It is helpful in boosting collagen, evens out skin tone, delay aging effects and balances hydration in our skin.

Rose water + Camphor (for oily/combination/normal skin)

Mix 1-2 pinch of camphor with 100 ml of rose water. Your toner is ready to use.

Camphor is a miracle substance to control excess oil secretion when combined with rose water. It gives a cooling effect when applied on the skin. Camphor is not advised to apply on broken skin. Use this toner with a cotton ball avoiding your eyes.

Cucumber juice + Vit. E (for all skin types)

Squeeze out juice from cucumber using a juicer. A grater can also be used to extract juice from a cucumber. Mix 100 ml of cucumber juice with 2 capsules of Vitamin E. An easy-to-make toner is ready to use.

Cucumber makes our skin healthy and glowing by rejuvenating skin cells, evens out skin tone, reduces blemishes and acne scars. Cucumber and Vitamin E mixed together makes a great toner for all skin types.
