My go to products for treating or fixing pimples

My Go-To Products For Fixing Or Treating Pimples

Pimples are definitely irritating, especially when we have to go to an urgent event or a party with friends. Nobody likes to have a big pimple popping on their forehead, cheeks or chin. They just destroy the whole look of our face. And then no matter how much time and effort we put into doing a nice makeup look, everything goes in vain. In today’s article, we will look into the products which definitely work in fixing or treating pimples.

Toothpaste

The first product for which everyone rushes when having a pimple is toothpaste. Toothpaste helps in drying out pimples and prevents them from spreading the bacteria all over the face. For this quick remedy, you just need to dab a small amount of toothpaste on the affected area with a cotton bud.

Before applying toothpaste directly on the pimple, just do a patch test on your arm. If irritation occurs, don’t use it on the pimple. Remember to use only white toothpaste for treating pimples, don’t go for any other gel-based or colorful toothpaste.

Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth)

Multani mitti is also known as fuller’s earth. It dries out pimples very effectively without leaving a scar on the spot. Just mix a quarter spoon of fuller’s earth with some water/honey to make a smooth paste. Apply it to the spot and leave at least 15-20 minutes before washing.

Repeat this procedure after every few hours and you will see how magically your pimple will go away.

Foaming Face Wash

We all have a foaming face wash in our vanity for the days when our skin produces more oil than usual. But, if you don’t have a one right now, Patanjali orange aloe vera face wash will be very economical in your pocket.

Just use a generous amount of foaming face wash on the spot where a pimple has appeared and wash after a minute. You don’t need to wash your entire face while doing this quick fix. Wash your entire face with face wash only 2 times a day and the affected area needs to be washed 2 more times separately.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

I know this option is a bit pricey but is worth every penny you are paying for it. Tea tree essential oil is very much concentrated to use directly on pimples. So, mix 1-2 drops of tea tree essential oil with a spoon of carrier oil (coconut/olive/almond oil, whatever best suits your skin).

Apply this mixture of oil on the affected areas with a cotton bud and leave this oil to work. Tea tree essential oil has anti-microbial properties and certain antioxidants which helps in treating and clearing acne very fast. Reapply every few hours till the pimples go away. Please do a patch test before using any essential oil on your skin.

Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon essential oil is also an effective product in treating pimples. It not only treats pimples but also clear the scars that come with them. However, you can use it directly on the spots but if you find it a bit concentrated for your pimples. Mix 1-2 drops of this essential oil with a spoon of any carrier oil and then apply this mixture to the spots with a cotton swab. Reapply every few hours.

Lemon essential oil has anti-bacterial properties and antioxidants which treat the pimples and clear the scars very well. Please do a patch test before using it on your skin.

Concealer

If you have no time to treat your pimples and you have to go out of the house right away. Then, concealer always comes as a quick hack to cover them. Just use a small amount of concealer on your pimple and you are good to go.

Revitalizing & Moisturizing Face Packs For Winters

Hi Lovelies,

Winters are coming and we all know that how much our skin becomes rough and dry during this time. That’s why our skin needs some extra moisturization for the radiant glow. Today I am going to discuss easy to make & moisturizing face packs to replenish lost moisture into your skin. Without further ado, let’s get started.

Gram flour and Milk cream

Gram flour acts as a very mild exfoliant which gently removes dead skin from our skin. When mixed with milk cream, this home-made face pack moisturizes our skin pretty well.

  • Mix 1 spoonful of gram flour (Besan) with 1/2 spoon of milk cream.
  • Add a pinch of turmeric and 2 spoons of rose water to it.
  • Turmeric helps in brightening and giving an even skin tone. Rose water also provides us with clear glowing skin.
  • Mix all the ingredients to make a smooth paste-like consistency.
  • Apply it all over your face and neck. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Use gentle circular motions to remove it from your face.

Banana and Honey

Banana and honey, both are specialized in giving adequate moisturization and even tone to your skin.

  • Mash half a banana to make a paste-like consistency. This much amount is adequate for your full face and neck.
  • When properly mashed, minute particles of banana also acts as a gentle exfoliant.
  • Add 1/2 spoon of honey and raw milk to it and mix it very well.
  • Apply it to your face and neck and let it sit for a good 20 minutes before washing.

Rice flour and Raw milk

Rice flour is the best anti-aging ingredient for our skin. When mixed with raw milk, it provides instant hydration to dry, flaky skin.

  • Take out 1 spoonful of rice flour in a bowl and add 2 spoons of raw milk to it.
  • You can also add half a spoon of honey to it for extra hydration.
  • Make paste-like consistency by mixing it very well.
  • After application, leave this face pack on your face for 15-20 minutes before washing it off.

Olive oil and Honey

Olive oil is good for treating fine lines on our face and gives the proper hydration that our skin needs.

  • For this face pack, take equal proportions of olive oil and honey in a bowl.
  • Even after mixing, I know this pack is too runny for the application. That’s why you need to apply it onto your skin with a cotton ball.
  • You can also make a paste-like consistency by adding a spoonful of wheat flour/ gram flour into it.
  • Leave it on your skin to dry for at least 15-20 minutes before washing.

Coconut milk and Corn Flour

Coconut milk with corn flour is a super-hydrating face mask for your dull and dreary winter skin.

  • To make this face pack, Take out 1 spoon of corn flour in a bowl.
  • Add 2 spoonful of coconut milk to it and mix it well.
  • Apply it on your full face and neck and leave it around 15 minutes.
  • While washing, use gentle circular motions to take it off.

Quick Tip

Make sure to apply these moisturizing face packs 2 times a week for the radiant glow.

Sunscreen facts and myths busted

Sunscreen Facts And Myths Busted

Sunscreen is a must for everyone in their day to day life. There are many articles on the web which state the importance of using sunscreen. But still, there are lots of myths circulating in our society which needs to be busted with well-known information.

Today’s blog post is an in-depth article about sunscreen facts and useless myths which we are listening from ages.

Myth: The amount of sunscreen does not matter at all.

Fact: If you apply only a pea-sized amount on your face and neck, it will not provide enough protection. Your skin will still suffer from damage caused by UV rays. According to Doctors, half teaspoon of sunscreen is an adequate amount for our face and neck. One full spoon for your arms and 2 spoonfuls for your legs.

Myth: Sunscreen with higher SPF don’t need reapplication.

Fact: Even if we have applied a sunscreen with higher SPF but we touch and also wipe off sweat from our face persistently. Which in turn, decreases the concentration of sunscreen on the skin. So, reapplication of sunscreen after 2-3 hours provides protection to our face from harmful UV rays.

Myth: Sunscreen with higher SPF protects your skin better.

Fact: A sunscreen with SPF 30 blocks 97% of harmful UV rays whereas a sunscreen with SPF-50 blocks UV rays up to 98%. This means sunscreens above SPF 30 are just a marketing gimmick.

Myth: Sunscreen is just for sunny days or when you are out in the sun.

Fact: Whether it is a sunny day or a rainy day, Sun’s harmful rays are always active during daytime. Even when you are inside your home or at the office, you are still in contact with UV rays.

Myth: SPF is the only factor to look out when you are buying a sunscreen.

Fact: SPF only protects your skin from UVB rays which harm only the topmost layer of skin. While UVA rays damage the skin up to 3 layers. PA factor on sunscreen defends your skin from UVA rays. If you are not able to find PA factor on a sunscreen, look for the term ‘broad-spectrum’. A broad-spectrum sunscreen is able to protect skin from both UVA & UVB rays.

Myth: Waterproof sunscreen does not need to be reapplied.

Fact: Waterproof sunscreen loses their effectiveness after 30-40 minutes in water. Waterproof sunscreen needs reapplication after every hour if you are in water for a long duration.

Myth: SPF-30 sunscreen provides twice the protection as SPF-15 sunscreen.

Fact: SPF-15 sunscreen provides 93% of protection from UV rays while SPF-30 sunscreen provides 97% of protection. So, no point in comparing sunscreens based on SPF indication.

Myth: Sunscreen inhibits our body to absorb Vitamin D.

Fact: Using sunscreen does not block body’s ability to absorb Vitamin D from the sun. In fact, your body doesn’t need more than 10-15 minutes a day under the sun to make Vitamin D.

Myth: I can stay under the sun for a longer duration if I have applied sunscreen.

Fact: Sunscreen with SPF-30 blocks only 97% of harmful UV rays which means if you are persistently under the sun for a long period. Your skin is getting affected by 3% of unblocked UV rays.

Lotus Herbals Sunblock Cream With SPF 20 & PA+

Lotus Herbals Sun Block Cream Breezy Berry With SPF 20 & PA+ Review

Hi, Friends!

Hope you all are doing great in your lives. I am also happy and good in mine. Today’s blog post is going to be a review on Lotus Herbals Sun Block Cream With SPF 20 & PA+.

Lotus Herbals is India’s leading brand and also a trusted one because of the quality it offers to its customers. I am using this product from last 2 months to give you a valuable experience.

Price of the product: Rs. 255 for 100g

What the product claims

This waterproof Sun Block Cream offers full spectrum medium duration protection against damaging effects of UVA & UVB rays during outdoor sports, sunbathing, sea beach recreation and exposure to the sun. The cream will not be washed/wiped with water/sweat.

Product Highlights

  • Sweatproof.
  • Waterproof.
  • Non-greasy.

My experience with the product

The sunblock is packed in a normal flip top tube just like other sunscreens from “Lotus”. The tube is quite sturdy and suitable for travelling. The fragrance of the product is very light and it will not irritate anyone.

Sunscreen lotion has SPF 20 and PA+ for full coverage from UVA & UVB rays. Though it has sufficient amount of SPF but PA factor of this lotion is quite less. There must be at least 2 or 3 ‘+’  signs for PA indication in a sunscreen. The sunscreen is not suitable for long duration protection under the sun.

It claims to be suitable for all skin types, sweatproof, waterproof and non-greasy. And yes, it is true to all of its claims. Whether you have dry, oily or combination skin; it will blend with your skin type amazingly.

One thing, I want to share with you guys that the lotion doesn’t have a cream based consistency, it has a little greasy texture. But after a few minutes of application, the product will be completely absorbed without leaving shine or greasiness on the skin. It leaves a dewy finish on the skin post-application.

Sunscreen spreads easily on the skin by patting it slightly with your fingertips.

The ingredient list of this product states that it contains both physical as well as chemical protection in it. The presence of chemical sunscreen in the lotion makes it not to leave any kind of whitish cast on the skin.

Formulation of sunscreen is very light and does not feel heavy and sticky on the face. Because of its light texture, my facial pores do not feel clog at all.

Pros:

  1. Contains Physical as well as chemical protection.
  2. Sweatproof.
  3. Waterproof.
  4. Non-greasy.
  5. Provides full spectrum protection.
  6. Amazing fragrance.
  7. Suitable for application in all seasons or throughout the year.
  8. Does not leave a whitish cast on the face.

Cons:

  1. Does not provide long duration protection from the sun.
  2. Sweats very less, and that too if you are under the sun.

Final Verdict:

Lotus Herbals Sunblock Cream is suitable for all skin types and can be applied everyday throughout the year.

Biocare Whitening Sunscreen With SPF 45

Biocare Whitening Sunscreen With SPF 45 Review

Biocare make their skin care products at an affordable price with an overwhelming range. The brand is trying to stand out in the Indian market as well as reaching their consumers through e-commerce websites and local shops at the same time.

They make face masks, face scrubs, foot scrubs, body gel, face gel, sunscreens and lot more products in a diverse variety. Two months back, My brother wanted to buy an affordable sunscreen. We went to a shop nearby our house for the purchase. The helper at the shop showed us Biocare Sunscreen in 2-3 varieties. We picked Biocare Whitening Sunscreen Cream With Spf 45 as it is a cream based product. Just after few uses, my brother gave it to me because it did not suit his skin. I am using it on myself at least from last 1 month to give you girls an in-depth review.

Price of the product: Rs. 170 for 200 gms.

What the product claims:

Biocare Whitening Sunscreen Cream With Vitamin C & SPF 45 is excellent for sensitive, oily and combination skin type as well as universally accepted for the skin of any colour.

Finally, an oil-free sunscreen that won’t leave you looking ‘pasty’. A non-greasy sunscreen offering broad-spectrum protection against the sun’s damaging rays. SUNCOAT contains zinc oxide, which provides a physical sunblock against UVA and UVB rays. SUNCOAT Sunscreen SPF 45 also contains dimethicone to protect skin from environmental damage and to retain moisture. Oil-free formulation absorbs quickly. May be worn daily under makeup, no need for additional moisturisers. Skin feels soft smooth and is protected.

SUNCOAT Sunscreen SPF 45 provides up to 45 times protection to the bare skin and physical barrier against UVA/UVB and infrared rays to prevent sunburn, skin damage, freckling and uneven coloration.

Product Highlights:

  • Broad spectrum sunscreen.
  • Water resistance.
  • Non-greasy.

My experience with the product:

The packaging of Biocare Whitening Sunscreen is a normal flip-top packaging and not travel-friendly. The tube is not spill-proof and it gets very dirty around the opening. Every time I open the tube, the product starts to come out without even pressing the tube. This means you always get more than the required amount. For this reason, I squeezed out the sunscreen lotion in an empty container for daily usage.

The consistency of the sunscreen is creamy. The sunscreen is heavy on the skin and leaves a white cast post application. Though the sunscreen is made for oily to combination skin type but it does not blend well with oily skin. Because of its heavy texture, it clogs the facial pores which in turn produces more sebum and the face becomes very sweaty.

If you have normal to dry skin type, use it after proper moisturisation on the face. Otherwise, it will make your skin dry. Another thing, I found annoying about this sunscreen is that, if you apply more than the required amount. Then it becomes difficult to blend it on the skin.

The product is a broad-spectrum sunscreen and absolutely non-greasy. But it is not water-resistance. Because it starts to dissolve with water, as soon as the skin comes in contact with water.

I used it on my facial skin only in winters after applying a proper amount of moisturiser on the face (otherwise, it dries out my skin). Nowadays, it is spring season here in India. And I am applying it on my arms and legs. It works great on these body parts, as you are protecting them without spending much.

Sunscreen is definitely a tricky skin care product. Because every sunscreen acts differently on different skin types. So, if you are conscious about experimenting with new sunscreens. You can use it as a body sunscreen lotion as it is very cheap and affordable.

Pros:

  1. Affordable.
  2. Non-greasy.
  3. Broad spectrum.
  4. Good for de-tanning (As it makes tanned skin slightly fairer).
  5. Good to be used as a body sunscreen lotion.
  6. Suitable for dry to normal skin type.

Cons:

  1. Very heavy on the skin.
  2. Not suitable for oily skin people (as it clogs pores).
  3. Makes skin very sweaty post application (for oily skin type).
  4. Not water resistance.
  5. Not spill-proof.

Final Verdict:

Biocare Whitening Sunscreen With SPF 45 is a decent sunscreen lotion but only for normal to dry skin people. If you don’t want to splurge much on a sunscreen for arms and legs. It would be a good option for you.

Patanjali Neem & Tulsi Face Wash Review

Patanjali Neem & Tulsi Face Wash Review

Face wash is a must have product in everyone’s vanity and Patanjali offers a variety of face wash for different skin issues. Formerly, I reviewed Honey Orange Face Wash from the same brand. This time, I wanted to try a different one. That’s why I chose Patanjali Neem & Tulsi Face Wash.

Though I am not a big fan of beauty products from Patanjali but I like their face wash to some extent. They are affordable for everyday usage without pinching your pocket.

Price of the product: Rs. 45 for 60gms.

What the product claims:

Patanjali Neem & Tulsi face wash is a soap-free herbal formulation. Its gentle cleansing action controls moisture and natural balance of the skin. Neem & Tulsi kills germs while Honey & Aloe moisturise and rejuvenate the skin tissues, to make complexion fresh, smooth and beautiful. It also helps to prevent pimples.

Product Highlights:

  • 100% soap-free formulae.
  • Gently cleanses to remove dirt & oil.

My experience with the product:

The product comes in a normal flip-top packaging which is quite sturdy for the purpose of travelling. To be frank, I did not like the design imprinted on the tube. It should be a little bit fancy but after considering its price, everyone will ignore this fact totally.

The face wash has gel-like consistency and is slightly green in colour. It has very soothing mild fragrance which I liked the most.

The face wash lathers very less and is very gentle on the skin. My face tends to appear normal in the spring season and it blended very well with my skin. Whenever I use it on my face, it glides very smoothly and doesn’t make my face dry and stretchy post wash.

It didn’t break me out. So I can say that it helps to prevent pimples according to its claims. Another thing, I found out about this face wash is that it also moisturises the facial skin to some extent. Which is why this is suitable for normal and dry skin people.

The seasons which would be suitable for this face wash to try out are: winters, autumn and spring.

Pros:

  1. Very affordable.
  2. Soap-free formulae.
  3. Suitable for normal and dry skin people.
  4. Very gentle on skin.
  5. Mild fragrance.

Cons:

  • Nothing negative found so far about this product.

Final Verdict:

Patanjali Neem & Tulsi face wash is worth a try product for everyday usage. I am really liking it in my daily skin care routine. My skin feels very soft and supple post wash.

W2 Strawberry Face Wash Review

W2 Strawberry Face Wash Review

“W2” brand is new in the Indian market. That’s why most of the people are still unaware of the products from this brand. A few weeks ago, I shared my experience about W2 strawberry moisturiser with all of you.

This time, I am back with strawberry face wash from the same brand. So, that you get to know more about this brand and what are the pros & cons of this product.

Price of the product: Rs. 110 for 100 gm.

Also, read: Product Review on Patanjali Honey Orange Face Wash.

What the product claims

Natural skin whitening, Skin toning, De-pigmentation, Improves elasticity, Anti-bacterial, Anti-inflammatory, Stops acne.

Product Highlights

  • Regenerates skin.
  • Open pores.
  • Maintain sebum level.
  • Antioxidant.
  • Astringent action.

My experience with the product

I bought this product from a local shop. Since I was satisfied with the strawberry moisturiser from the same brand. I thought of giving this face wash worth a try.

The tube of the product is quite decent with a flip top cap, which is also great for travel purpose. The fragrance of the product is so much amazing. Whenever I use this face wash, I feel like slathering fresh strawberries on my entire face.

The face wash has gel-like consistency and quite transparent in colour. One thing, I noticed about this product is that it lathers very less which is great for extremely dry, sensitive skin and also for women who have crossed the age of 40. Because as you get older, your skin tends to be more on the drier side.

Talking about its claims, it does nothing on the skin as mentioned on the product packaging. However, I like to tell you that face washes are meant to remain on the skin only for 1-2 minutes. Therefore, a face wash can not prevent your skin from getting damaged.

Pros

  1. Affordable product.
  2. Good for extremely dry, sensitive and ageing skin.
  3. Lathers very less.
  4. Amazing fragrance.
  5. Does not dry out the skin.

Cons

  1. Not easily available.
  2. Does nothing about its claims. But, I don’t mind about this fact. Because it cleanses my face pretty well.

Will I repurchase it?

Yes. The product is very decent and you will love it after every usage.

DIY Rose Oil: Recipe To Make It At Home

DIY Rose Oil: Recipe To Make It At Home

Everyone gets crazy for roses because of its undoubtedly pleasant fragrance. But, whenever used topically it also provides ultimate benefits to our skin.

I like to use roses in my beauty regime through multiple ways. Today, I want to share an amazing DIY recipe to make rose oil at home. It helps to keep my skin healthy, clear, flawless and reverses the ageing process. Let’s get started.

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml of coconut oil
  • 1 cup of dried rose petals.
  • 2 tsp of Vitamin E oil or 5 Vitamin E capsules.

Things you will need:

  • A big jar for preparation.
  • A small glass or plastic bottle to store prepared mixture.

Recipe:

Preparation of rose oil

  1. Pluck 15-20 organic roses from your garden and dry them in shade. If you dry rose petals in direct sunlight, it will burn them. The procedure of drying rose petals will take 4-5 days.
  2. After the rose petals are completely dried. Crush them with your hands or with the help of a blender.
  3. Put 1 cup of dried rose petals in a jar of 200 ml.
  4. Then add coconut oil into the jar. I used coconut oil as a carrier oil because it gets easily absorbed by the skin.
  5. Make sure that the jar is filled 3/4th with roses and 1/4th with coconut oil. You can increase or decrease the amount but keep the ratio same.
  6. Leave the jar in direct sunlight during daytime and at a cold, dark place during night-time. And mix the ingredients of the jar at least 2 times a day.
  7. Repeat this simple procedure up to 2 weeks at a minimum and up to 4 weeks at a maximum (if you want to intensify this oil).
  8. When the oil is ready, strain it by discarding the roses. But don’t throw them. You can use the discarded roses in your homemade face packs.
  9. Add Vitamin E oil to the prepared oil. Vitamin E oil will help your skin to slow down the ageing process.
  10. The prepared rose oil will be deep red in colour. I kept the mixture for 4 weeks to intensify it.

How to use rose oil:

  • For normal to dry skin – Use the required amount of rose oil at night-time all over your face & neck.
  • For oily to combination skin – Whenever you apply moisturiser at night-time, mix 3-4 drops of rose oil into it and apply it onto your face and neck.

Spray Sunscreens

Such a product is packed in a can with a spritzer to evenly spray sunscreen all over the face and body. These are great for super-oily skin and humid, rainy weather.
