I have normal/combination skin type… during a whole year. But my skin tends to appear oily during monsoons. Thanks to the excess humidity in northern parts of India. For this reason, I have to buy skincare products specially made for oily skin type during this season. Read following posts:
Today I am going to give an honest review on Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser. I am using this moisturiser from last year. That is why I feel the urge to share my experience with all of you.
Price of the product: Rs. 349 for 115 ml
What the product claims:
All-day moisturization. Lightweight, non-greasy formula keeps skin moisturised for 12 hours. Sun protection. UV SPF 15 sunscreen.
- Won’t clog pores.
My experience about Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser SPF 15:
Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser SPF 15 comes with a pump dispenser which makes this product convenient and hygienic to use. At first, I found the packaging of this product too cute. The pump dispenser of this product comes with a lock which makes it travel-friendly. You can carry it in your handbag without the fear of spilling.
The product has a soft, creamy texture and no fragrance at all. People with a sensitive nose will love it. The consistency of this product is neither too creamy nor too flowy. The oil-free moisturiser blends into my skin very easily. I feel my skin moisturised for long 7-8 hours after applying it.
As the product states, a non-comedogenic product(a non-comedogenic product does not clog pores). My facial pores don’t feel clogged after using it. The texture is so light that I don’t really feel that I applied something on my face. I did not experience any breakout on my face since I am using this product.
Though the product has an SPF of 15 but it does not completely protect our skin from harmful UV rays. Visible sunrays contain UVA, UVB and UVC rays. UVA rays cause all types of skin damage like pigmentation, tanning, rashes, blemishes, fine lines and premature ageing. UVB rays cause sunburns and skin cancers. UVC rays don’t reach earth’s surface.
A product stating only SPF(Sun Protection Factor) protects our skin only from UVB rays and not UVA rays. We get protection from harmful UVA rays only with a sunscreen stating PA factor. So, you need to apply a sunscreen with an SPF and a PA factor after this oil-free moisturiser.
- Blends easily in skin.
- Doesn’t clog pores.
- Not allergic to skin.
- Lightweight on skin.
- Consistency is too good.
- An Oil-free moisturiser which is made from humectants. Humectants increase the water content of skin without making skin greasy.
- Amazing as a make-up base.
- Does not contain PA factor. So you need to apply a sunscreen with both SPF and PA factors.
- The face does not look matte. T-zone looks a bit shiny(not greasy) after applying this moisturiser. People with normal skin type may find this moisturiser bit greasy.
- The moisturiser contains Parabens like Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben. Parabens are used as preservatives in cosmetic products.
Will I repurchase it?
Yeah, definitely. I used this product in both seasons i.e. summers and monsoons. My face looked a bit shiny in summers though the shine goes away after some time. But in monsoons, I found this moisturiser extremely amazing.
